She has a thing for Matt, and they even dated for a while, but he ignores her and her group of so called "FRIENDS" You would have to be VERY stuck up to have HER as a friend!

Description: Ben was sent to Heartland by his aunt who wanted to have him learn the methods to use at her Arabian Ranch after her horse, Promise, was cured in book five. Ben took his horse, Red, a chestnut gelding, with him to stable him there. Ben competes a lot on the weekends and that is the reason he left Heartland in book 16. His heart just didn't belong there and his "destiny" was to compete so he left and got a position a Nick Halliwell's barn where Daniel and Storm are. Ben is great.

Description: Carey is Huten's granddaughter and when Huten dies she is left with a wild mustang named Maverick who Carey doesn't want to trust to anyone but her. On a visit to Carey's home, Amy discovers what is wrong with Carey, and, together, Amy and Carey are able to make Maverick trust everyone. They use methods such as T-touch and herbal remedies which Amy makes from flowers from the mountainside. In this way Maverick is said to have been given the breath of his country.

In book 13 Amy and Daniel kiss but then they don't have a weird relationship afterwards. Nick Halliwell buys Storm for Daniel who ends up being a working pupil at his barn and they rocket straight to the top with Storm's talent and Daniel's natural horsemanship. They would go far in real life.

At the beginning of "A Winter's Gift" Amy is not ready to like/accept Heather because she is going out with Ty; however, Amy realizes later on in the book that Heather is not a threat and is willing to help Amy, during a birthing of a foal. Amy is able to feel she can accept Heather as a help and as a team member on Heartland.

Description: Huten is a Native American man who lives in the Appalachian mountains, a few hours' drive from Heartland. He, his son Bill and granddaughter Casey work together to manage a stable where they work in secretive ways, helping cure horses while people learn things in the nearby mountain village. They also run a trail-ride business for tourists at Ocanumba, their family-run stable and home. In book 9, Amy takes a horse there and she goes again in the 18th book. She went with Marion as a young child.

Description: Jack is Marion's father and lives at Heartland. He is a retired cattle farmer and owns the Heartland property. He doesn't have an official job but cooks and takes care of the house, since Lou and Amy have their own work.

In book #3 she sends a horse of hers, Promise, to be cured of being tack shy. At the open house Lisa stands up for Heartland and their methods. She even pays Heartland to have her nephew Ben work there as a stable hand so he could learn about alternative remedies and teach them to the Fairfield staff. Description: Little is told about Marion since dying in the first book, but you get to know her more when Amy remembers her and thinks about her mom. Marion started Heartland after being deserted by her husband and to cure Pegasus from his great mental and physical suffering. Marion uses alternate remedies that she learned about on her way to heal Pegasus. She uses her dad, Jack's, barn to keep her horses that come to be treated. Marion was also very stubborn and that is what made her go out into the storm the night of her death. I feel sorry for Amy. I know that I would be devastated if my mom died and I can only imagine.

Description: Marnie is one of Lou's best friends from Manhattan. They were colleagues and she rode as a child, so she sometimes goes to help at Heartland. She suggested how Heartland could make money, like in the open house, and stayed with Amy when Pegasus had to be put down, and brought Marion's barn jacket out. She helped solve Amy's problems in book 6. Marnie was one of Lou's bridesmaids at her wedding.

He read about Heartland in a magazine in the first book, it says, and agrees to send his horses to Heartland even without Marion. He rides in the Six Bar against Daniel Lawson in book 10, "Tomorrow's Promise".

Description: Ty first started working for Marion when he was 15 and is one of Heartland's main characters. He has been Amy's boyfriend (and best friend) since book number 6 and helps her take care of the horses. One year after he came to Heartland, he approached Marion and asked for a full time job due to his parent's lack of money. When Marion died he became much more than a stablehand. His mom has been going through depression and his dad is never home. He was in a coma in book 13 and when he came out he had to work to get back to his usual self. Ty seems like a nice, sweet, and caring guy that anybody would love to have as a friend.

Name: Val Grant
The mother of Ashley Grant, Val Grant is the proud owner of Green Brier stables. Val Grant prefers to hit the horses, and show who's boss, very different from the methods at Heartland. In book #3, Breaking Free, Val Grant tried to ruin Heartland's fund raising open day, by saying that Heartland had drugged promise (belonging to Lisa Stillman) to be perfect for the open day and in the join up that Amy was demonstrating. In book #4, Taking Chances, Val Grant offered Ty a job at Green Brier as head groomer, and kept pestering him and offering great money for it.

History: Albatross is Huten's horse. Huten rides him with no saddle or bridle. They communicate and work as one. When Huten dies and Amy goes back to Ten Beeches, Carey lets her ride Albatross and Amy is mesmerized by his supple and smooth gaits. Albatross is a perfect example of the bond that makes Huten a partner, not an OWNER. Unlike Pegasus, when Huten dies, Albatross helps others and moves on.

History: Daniel bought Amber at a sale for next to nothing. No-one wanted her, but soon Daniel found out what an amazing jumper she was. Amber usually jumped her heart out for Daniel but sometimes she, as Daniel said, "Gets into a mood" and wouldn't jump to her full potential. Daniel looks to Amy for help. They think Amber is having behavioral problems due to hormonal changes. Amy finds a herb that could help because Daniel has a big show coming up and he needs Amber at her best. On the day of the show the ground is pretty muddy. In the first jumping round Amber goes perfectly, her old self, but in the jump-off the ground is worse. Unfortunately both rider and horse take a fall. Amber suffers a fractured knee joint and is taken to Heartland to recover. Sadly her knee becomes infected, the infection spreads, and Daniel reluctantly agrees to have Amber put to sleep, for the best.

History: Bear was being shipped with a bunch of other horses in an overheated cattle truck. Ty's dad stopped by Heartland for them to give the horses "food and water". Ty and Amy and the others saved the horses, including Bear, gained their trust, and nursed them back to health. Bear is now used as a quiet riding horse.

History: Boxer was brought to Heartland by his owner, Ruth Adams, who explained that she didn't have the time to take care of him. But when Boxer refused to eat and only sulked at the back of his stall, Amy became greatly concerned, and phoned Ruth many times, but to no avail. Ruth wouldn't give much information, and seemed to be hiding something. Ruth finally admitted that Hank, her dad, had Alzheimer's, and that Boxer had actually belonged to him. When Hank's Alzheimer's got so bad that he could barely recognize his own daughter, Ruth, having minimal knowledge of horses, had no choice but to bring him to Heartland. Amy also discovered that Hank and Boxer had worked together on a dairy farm herding cattle, and that cattle were a park of Boxer's life. Visits to the nearby herd of cattle, as well as visits from Hank, helped conquer Boxer's sorrow of being separated from Hank, and he was later re-homed.

She is very wary and nervous around people but she is not around Ty. In book #4 most of the time when Amy and him get in fights he says: "I'm going to go work with Dancer." And Dancer starts to adore him.

Mrs Abrahams, who bought Dazzle, hasn't been able to do much with him since she got him. He needs some professional handling and she hasn't ridden for years... So she looks to Heartland for help.

Description: Duke was at Green Briar for a short time. Unfortunately Val Grant ruined him by overworking him. Duke's owner went to college and he wasn't ridden for a year, but after a few weeks Val put him back to a full training/working schedule, an hour a day including jumping. When a farrier tried to shoe him or when a stablehand tried picking Duke's hooves, he would kick and Val got people to kick or even shoot his hindquarters with a pellet gun anytime he tried kicking. Duke got so scared he almost ripped the cross ties off the wall when they tried picking his feet at Green Briar. Daniel tried to insist upon better treatment but ended up getting fired. By rushing him back to work, his muscles got sore and it hurt every time they tried to put his hoof on the stand to shoe him. After he was bought for Heartland, Ty was in charge of him because Amy had enough to do.

History: After being in a car accident in book 20, Fanfare was afraid to go on roads and petrified of riding on or around them. When Amy is told he has a jumping problem, she is surprised when she jumps a course perfectly after a week or less of having Fanfare. Then, one day, on the road, Amy is thrown from Fanfare by a passing truck, with a horrid accident. Even worse, when she finds out that everyone knew Fanfare's REAL problem but her, she feels that, now, Heartland already has started to believe that she was already gone, for college.

History: Feather belongs to a young girl called Jo-ann. He is usually very well behaved except for for his occasional habit of rearing. Unfortunately, Jo's mum wants to sell him, but Amy and Lou manage to convince her to let Heartland take him on. There they can find no reasons for Feathers' rearing as he behaves perfectly. But one evening as Jo-ann rides feather with Jo's mum watching Amy realizes the problem. Whenever Jo's mum watches her ride it makes her nervous and Feather picks up on this and rears. Jo-ann is no longer worried and now knows she must not worry, but her mum isn't convinced. She's scared because Jo's grandmother was in a horse riding accident that left her in a wheelchair. Amy plucks up the courage to phone Jo's grandma and convince her to visit Heartland. She agrees. There Jo her mum and her gran resolve everything and agree to keep Feather!

He was bought for his amazing bloodlines and his owner wanted a new dressage horse, having recently retired her last one.

History: Flint is an intelligent and spirited horse who has been moved around from place to place and had three homes in the past year. Claire, his current owner, just moved to town. Claire is a nervous person and Flint picks up on that and takes advantage. Claire's mother wants to sell him but Amy and Claire convince her to give him one last chance. Flint is sent to Heartland. There Amy and Ty help Claire grow in confidence and Flint finally begins to bond with her and look upon her with respect. Luckily Claire's mother agrees to let her keep Flint.

History: Gallant Prince (book #7) was one of the top three year olds last season and he had won the Maryland Breeders Cup at Pimlico, but then when a fire breaks out at his stables, Brookland Ridge, he becomes a hero by breaking free and alerting his stable lad, saving many other horses. But he paid a price with his own injuries. His tendons were damaged so badly he would never race again. His owners sent him to Heartland as a last resort. There he is helpless; no one can reach him; it seems like he doesn't want to be reached. So Amy goes in search of Ryan Bailey, the stable lad on the night of the fire. Amy convinces him to come and face his past and both Ryan and Prince make a huge turn in the right direction.

History: Gypsy is a black mare that goes to Heartland after the open house to be cured of bucking when she gets excited. She can be headstrong, so they strapped a dummy to her back so it wouldn't come off when she bucked -- to teach her it didn't work. Ben rode her on a trail ride with Amy and even when she bucked he didn't come off, which convinced him he was a good rider. She was jumpy and traumatized when she first arrived, but Amy and Ty think she'll be a suitable pleasure horse after she is cured.

They decide to see about placing tack on her, but when she isn't at all bothered Amy is suspicious and gets in contact with her previous owners who tell Amy they had previously been jumping her. Though surprised, Amy tries riding Mistrel with fantastic results.

History: Night Owl is a pregnant mare about to give birth who lives near the Middletons' property in A Winter's Gift. When Ty takes Amy for a trail ride and they pass the Middletons' lumberyard where they work, she spots the mare and donkey. When they get closer they see she is pregnant. Amy, Ty and Heather Middleton go and try to help, since Amy is in vet school and Ty knows about horses too. Night Owl's paddock has no gate or ample shelter, so they tear down part of the fence and bring her to a shed on the lumberyard. She gives birth to twins.

When Amy tried to bring him in, he would pull and walk faster or slower than the other horses. She was headstrong and often curious, so it was a challenge to keep her away from investigating things if they didn't want her to. When Solly was turned out with Willow, a bay mare scared of humans, it did them both good. She loved to explore and find out new things. Her confidence helped Willow be less frightened. And when Amy and Ty set up an obstacle course for Willow, Solitaire did it too, to get her used to things like buckets and flags.

History: When spartan is stolen from his owners, the Boswells, he is dumped in a stable where the owners have previously moved. Amy and Soraya discover him and Amy and Marion (Amy's mother) set off to rescue him with the trailer. There is a storm and a terrible accident where Amy's mom is killed. Spartan is left traumatized and is sent to Heartland. There Amy tries to reach him but Spartan seems to blame her. One evening in the wind and the rain Amy is set on joining up with Spartan. Spartan overcomes his anger and no longer blames Amy for the accident. Later, Spartan's previous owner, Larry Boswell, is tracked down and he comes to collect him but finding that spartan has been gelded he says he cannot keep him. When competing in a show jumping class with Spartan Amy meets Larry Boswell's granddaughter, Hannah, and they convince Mr. Boswell to let Hannah have him.

Unfortunately Tim wishes to sell him but to do that sadly they must break Spirit and Helena's close bond. Amy tries but just cant seem to get through to Spirit, until Helen tells Amy about the time she slept in Spirits stable. Amy tries this and he seems to take an interest in other people. Soon Spirit starts to improve and everyone is pleased with his progress.

She starts to sing and her singing reminds him of Mrs. Bell and the way she used to sing to him too. From then on he keeps getting better and better and continues his time at Heartland

She invites Daniel to ride him and the bond between him and Storm is amazing. She decides to put him up for sale and Nick H. calls and offers to buy Storm for Daniel who is a working pupil at his barn. Amy sadly gives him up.

He is a talented jumper who loves the shows. Ashley Grant loves to put Sundance down and calls him "The Mule". But Sundance soon puts her in her place by winning the blue ribbon.

Mrs. Roche took him to Green Briar and although they got rid of the problem, it couldn't have been nice for Swallow.
