Breaking Free is yet another great book in the Heartland series. Heartland is on the brink of closing down but Lisa Stillman's horse, Promise, needs help so Lisa sends her to Amy. However, this doesn't solve their financial problems so Lou organises an open day, which goes successfully. Lisa says she is really happy with the fact Amy healed Promise's problems. But the bad thing is that Pegasus, who has been getting weaker, dies suddenly that night. Lou and Amy bury him, but because Pegasus was mostly Marion's horse, Amy feels heartbroken. But her granddad reminds her they have to carry on with life, just like after the accident.
