I liked this book, but it was a bit of a letdown for me. Reading about Ocanumba and Ten Beeches just didn't seem as good in a second book. I'm not saying it was badly written, it was perfectly fine and I enjoyed it. I have never abandoned anything written by Lauren Brooke, and I've read about two-thirds of all her books. But the way Carey's and Maverick's situation was described just seemed like a bit of magic. The emotional parts were expressed well.
