Amy really wants to go with Lou to Australia to visit her father, who has gotten married to Helena and now has a daughter. Amy's dad has sent a letter to her saying he would love for her to come with Lou and Scott (Lou's boyfriend). Amy finds that Lou has already made arrangements for her friend Marnie and Soraya to come and help out with the chores while Amy is gone. Finally Amy decides to go with Lou. When the trio gets to Australia, though, Amy finds it hard to get used to her new family. She keeps herself to the stables, working on the horses that her father assigned her to. One of the horses has lost it's enthusiasm, and try as she might the horse will not budge. This discourages Amy even more, but soon she finds out that the other horse that she was helplessly working on responds to Lou. From that point, things start to unravel before Amy's eyes. She bonds with a stable hand that she had disliked at first. She finds the answer to both horses problems, as well as getting Lou back on horses once and for all. But most important of all, Amy is finally starting to get settled in with her new family. She realizes that Helena has been nothing but respectful to her, and her little step-sister likes her after all. Not only are the horses cured of their problems and Lou cured of her riding fear, but Amy is cured just as well.
