#1 in the Heartland Series is sooooo sad. Amy and Soraya go out on a trial ride and they find a horse in a barn and they guess its been there for a few days. Amy persuades her mom to go to get it. The horse is really scared and they have to act fast because there's a really bad storm in the sky. When they are on there way home a tree falls on them and Amy's mom dies but Amy still lives and she has to carry on the work her mom does at Heartland.
