i've used rescue remedy on myself and it really calms you down, (all you need is a drop or two!). I also tried T-touch on my cat but he thought I was going crazy and walked away!!! I was also in a field with two horses once and when you stand with your shoulder side on to the horse (like in join up) and aproach slowly they do not shy away like when you walk normally! YAY!!! I was so pleased because I actually go up to this horse and stroke it and when everyone else tried s/he kept shying away!!!!!! x

A lot of horse care books tell you to do that. If you appoach a horse face on they see you as a threat. If you approach a little sideways, aiming for their shoulder, they're not so threatened, so you're a lot more likely to have no problems...in theory! Plenty of horses know will walk away anyways, cause they don't want to be caught...
And yeah, I use Rescue a lot on myself when I out, cause I stress out a lot, particularly driving, and it always works for me.

Me and my friend have tried t-touch on our dogs but either they don't like it or it doesn't make them relax! lol they sit there for a minute and then run away!!! we've also tried join but they think were playing! I don't own a horse but i might start working at a horse farm over the summer so maybe i can try something then!

it must feel amazing to do join up!!
i dont have a pony either, but my friend has and i have tried it, it doesnt really work, but when my friend is picking out her hooves, it calms her if u do it on her muzzle
i live around lots of horses and a girl i know has tried it, it was soo cool! the pony was really nervous, and then she kept chasing the pony (called Jigsaw) , he didnt do the chewing etc thing but when she turned her back to him he nuzzled her shoulder and let her pat him!! i was like WOW! then he followed her

My dream is to one day become a equine vet and start a horse sanctuary like heartland. I love the whole natural medicen. When i ride at the stables by my house i refuse to do anything that could potentialy hurt my relationship with the horse for instance i wont use a crop or even a martingle.
