I was wondering if anyone has actually tried any of the cool alternative stuff that they use at Heartland e.g. essential oils, herbs, T-Touch, join-up??

If I ever get the chance, like if I one day get a horse, I would love to do join-up. <3

Have any of you done it before?

I've used Rescue Remedy on me. Does that count? lol

It works for me, really well, I can tell you that at least. I don't have a horse of my own to try stuff on, but when I finally do (will be a long time!) I'm gonna try it all.

I don't have a horse so I couldn't try. But, if I had one, I'd try T-touch and join up, though I feel nervous about being aggresive to a horse. :/

I attempted join up on my dog...It was a COMPLETE fiasco.

I don't have a ring, so I kinda tried to chase him, but the door was open and I couldn't go into the yard since I was barefoot. Then he thought I was trying to play when I sorta growled at him and waved my arms and stood tall. It wasn't very good.

I use essentail oils sometimes. Im sure your dog will love you trying join up on him, he'll think its a great game lol.

I want to try join up but I know if I try chasing Candy away she will just stand there and be like "you REALLY think Im going to run away from you, as if!" serously I cant even lunge her because she knows I'm not gonna hit her with the whip or anything. I tell ya if horses could laugh she would, all the time lol.

Maybe I could try with Dusty though, but since he's got RAO I'd be scared he keeps goin till he is TOTTALLY exhausted and then have a coughing fit.

LOL that's so funny about trying it on dogs but I'm guessing the language 'Equus' - you know, the whole join-up thing that Monty Roberts discovered - only works on equines!  Grin

I don't have a horse of my own either, so I haven't had the chance. But, if I ever did get a horse, I would certainly do join-up with it. It's one of the things I want to do before I die.  Smiley And maybe I would even like to start from scratch with a horse and start it/back it myself using join-up like Monty Roberts, and like Amy's mom. That would be truly amazing.
