Description: Alexandra is a serious student and co-captain of the senior riding team. Though she is not mentioned much in the books she seems to be nice. Though very smart, Alexandra is indecisive which is mentioned in Making Strides as she cannot choose which costume to wear. She is the opposite of Lani who is in for serious fun whilst Alexandra is in for serious learning.

Name: Ali Charmichael
Favorite Horse(s): Quince, Morello
Description: Ali Charmichael is the Director of Riding at Chestnut Hill, and is also Dylan's aunt. Ali has a ranch in Kentucky, which she left to come to CH. All the odds are against her since evidence proves that she's not as flashy, or award-winning as Elizabeth Mitchell. She has a lot to live up to. In book five, there is even a petition made to boot Ali out and bring in Ms. Mitchell. Although everyone knows that Ali is not as good as Ms. Mitchell, I get a feeling that in one of the later books, she will surprise them and come out with a gold trophy instead of settling for second or not even placing at all.

Description: Anita is a Granville house junior and riding student at Chestnut Hill. She and her horse, Prince of Thieves, unfortunately didn't make the senior riding team with four faults in the jump-off. But when Sara Chappell dropped out a few shows due to her horse's injured foot, Anita took her place. Anita is not mentioned much, but when she is, it usually has to do with riding. She is fairly levelheaded and kind.

Description: Caleb Smith is a rider from the all-boys school Saint Kits. He met Malory O'Neil whilst riding in the summer at Cheney Fall Stables at the same time as Malory. They get on really well, even though Caleb is the competitive type. They go out together and seem like the perfect match. In Book five (Team Spirit) she breaks up with him in a row about Ms. Charmichael, the Riding Director at Chestnut Hill, but they make up again in Book Six (All or Nothing).

Description: Carrie is an Adams freshman who attends meetings and activities, which is how Malory, Dylan, Lani and Honey know her. She is a computer whiz, so she often does cool stuff for dorm projects, such as the link with a neat font for Rodeo Day and helping with the good-bye present for the seniors.

Description: Clare Houlder is a junior and former middleschool team rider on Snapdragon; but upon growing too big for him she switches to riding Sancha, which she isn't happy about. Clare isn't on the senior team. She is not in the books much but in book five acts mean to Dylan and others who enjoy Ms. Carmichael's teaching, having a petition that opposes Dylan's. Clare wants Ms. Mitchell as Director of Riding again so she could ride Snapdragon, be on the team, and have Chestnut Hill do well in competitions again; but Dylan, being Ms. Carmichael's niece, wants her aunt to stay on as a teacher. (Also because her team mount, Morello, belongs to Ms. Carmichael and Dylan wants to keep riding him)

Description: Dylan is spunky, witty, funny, horse-crazy, and sounds like fun. She came from Connecticut. She first heard about CH in fourth grade from a magazine article. She begged her parents, who have a fair amount of money, to let her go. Mr. Walsh enjoys horses too, and is pretty much on Dylan's level. Her mother is a little obsessed with America's A-list and stylish, classy things, like when she admired Lynsey's suitcase and bag set. She enjoys fashion and hairstyling. Dylan really loves shopping and fashion--almost as much as Lynsey and Patience. Her aunt, Ali Carmichael, is the director of the riding program at Chestnut Hill, so Dylan already has a friend there. Ali's horses which she brought from Kentucky are named Quince and Morello. Malory is her best friend because Dylan encouraged Malory to stay when she tried to leave in the first book. She is close to Lani because they are a lot alike in personality. Honey and Dylan are close partly because they are roommates, that's how they met. Unless Patience or Lynsey is around, she's always ready for a good time. Dylan fell in love with the Skewbald gelding Morello after spending time with her aunt over break. She has a crush on Henri, a teenage guy she met at Aspen ski resort. They hung out together and Dylan e-mails him regularly. Dylan's motto is: Live for today!

Name: Edward Hunter Duvall
Description: Edward Hunter Duvall is a successful fantasy author, one of Wei Lin's favorite novelists. He is also Patience's father, and he is very excited about Patience's premium riding education at CH, more so than Patience herself, and buys her an expensive eventing mount in the hope she would love to ride and compete. The pony he buys Patience is a Connemara called Moonlight Minuet after a unicorn from one of his novels.

Description: Eleanor is an eighth grader, and the captain of the junior jumping team. Her team mount is Skylark, a spirited, sometimes high-strung chestnut mare. They got a clear round in one minute, nine seconds in the jump-off for the riding team. She was shortlisted for the Cavendish riding program in book #6, but unfortunately didn't make the cut.

Honey is a Brit who is funny, always sweet and calm. She would like to be friends with everyone and avoids petty conflicts, and is generous and sensitive to others. She is good at hiding her emotions because when Sam was in the hospital, the housemother and school faculty thought she was doing fine. Honey always looks on the bright side--when one of her friends pointed out in book 3 that Minuet was still Patience's, she was still glad Minnie was staying as a school pony. Honey lets things go really quickly and little squabbles don't linger in her mind. She is a decent student and her riding definitely improves from when she first started at Chestnut Hill. She is the only one out of her friends who owned a pony of her own. Honey rides different ponies through the year--Kingfisher, Falcon, and Minuet.

She better watch out though, Patience may get a little bored with her one day! Dylan's mom encouraged her to become friends with Lynsey after seeing the Harrisons in Vogue magazine. Lynsey is popular after having two sister go to C.H. before her, but at the same time she has a reputation to live up to. Lynsey has had all the best horseback riding instruction so it's no surprise that she gets onto the riding team. Lynsey pretends to be nice a lot, like to boys or upperclassmen. I guess she gets by on her social status and clothes. You'd have to be VERY open-minded to have Lynsey for a BFF.

She dates Caleb Smith, who attends Saint Kit's, the boys' school on the other side of town. She is from a basic background, does not have her own horse and lives nearby in Cheney Falls, where her father owns a shoe store. She boards in Adams House and is the winner of the prestigious Rockwell award, a scholarship that enables her to be able to attend CH. Description: Mr. Musgrave is the Chestnut Hill equitation coach. He mainly teaches the basic class, which Patience rides in, but once or twice took the intermediate class. Mr. Musgrave tends to be strict and proper. He always dresses neatly and carries a crop, which he slaps against his leg when he is irritated, like when Lynsey was instructing Patience during her lesson, and has a forceful tone of voice.

Description: Sam is the twin of "Honey", born six minutes before her. He is the competitive type. He had Leukemia once, and when Felicity and her family thought it was beat, it came back. "Honey"'s parents knew six weeks before that it had came back and only told Honey then. They sent her to Chestnut Hill so she wouldn't be too worried about it. But she couldn't help wondering if Sam was scared or feeling bad, so her best friend, Lani Hernandez, when they went to Allbright's where Honey's friends Dylan and Malory were jumping, (Malory on Tybalt and Dylan on Morello) Honey escaped to a bus stop to visit the hospital where Sam was. Ms. Herson didn't mind that much though once it was explained. Honey had fell asleep beside Sam's bed. A while after, at the Christmas party, Sam rung Honey to tell her that he was put into the regular ward. Lani was the only one who knew about his leukemia, so at the Christmas party Honey felt it was time to tell her other friends about it, too. In the 6th book, Sam is recovering and there is some kind of chemistry between him and Lani (although they won't admit it). Book 8 is mostly about Sam and Lani, including Lani teaching him to play baseball, him kissing Lani by the Lake, and more.

Blue is a people-pony who is willing to please. He is the best bred horse there at Chestnut Hill and Lynsey makes sure that everyone knows it. But Blue is the best pony money can buy and the Harrisons have money. Blue is amazingly talented.

History: Colorado was was from the west, hence the name Colorado. Lani loved him from the start because he was the horse that she used in the riding placement test. Lani also rode Colorado in the fundraiser for Adams house "Rodeo Day." They came within three and a half seconds of a professional rider. Colorado is a challenge and that is also part of the reason Lani loves him. To rise him you need to use your legs and seat more to control him. Colorado is a one rider-type horse.

History: Hardy was a school horse from the start and isn't one of the main horses in the series. Malory used him until she was allowed to ride Tybalt. Little is known about Hardy, although we know that he is a gentle horse. Tybalt injured him right before a competition which put him out of the running so Malory was assigned to Foxy Lady but ended up taking Tybalt. Hardy is sweet, and part of the reason the Malory likes him
is because he is not such an easy study and she could build an understanding with him.

History: Kingfisher is Honey's favorite horse until Moonlight Minuet comes along. Honey still rides Kingfisher but secretly would love to ride Minuet. Kingfisher is handsome and normally well behaved. Just like Colorado and Morello, Kingfisher loves his treats. Kingfisher is really sweet and suits Honey well. He is a good jumper and is excellent in dressage.

You only see him in A Time to Remember at the All Schools show in the warm-up ring and when he is jumping, as Sienna goes to Alice Allbrights' school for girls. He is muscular, glossy and fit, and he seems a willing ride. He turns in fast, and clears round on most jumping courses they enter into, as he has been perfectly trained!

Minnie has a sweet nature and only wants to please. But when Patience and her BFF, Lynsey, strain Minnie's tendons, Honey throws all her devotion into helping Minnie to get better.

History (Personality:) Spunky (like Dylan), has his off days, loves attention, and is ready to give (and take carrots as a reward) when in an agreeable mood.
History: Morello is Aunt Ali's Pinto Pony. Dylan met him while visiting her aunt's stable in Kentucky. They went to shows together and that's where they encountered, but never truly met, Lynsey Harrison. Dylan has a picture of Morello on her bedside table. He is a moody horse and you'll never know how he'll be today so watch out. He LOVES attention and does everything in a horses' power to get it. Morello sounds facetious.

Jo-Ann sticks up for Lani and Colorado when Lyndsay moans about the basic gymnastic grid that Ms Carmichael set up for the ponies.

As far as you know, Snapdragon likes to jump and is quite energetic.

History: Tybalt came to Chestnut Hill after being abused by his first owners and is wary and intimidated by humans because of it. Malory came upon him when she and Dylan went with Mrs. Carmichael to check out some horses. He reminded her of her grandparent's horse Zanzibar. Mrs. C. Struck up a deal with his owner Ryan, and Tybalt came to Chestnut Hill. Malory called Amy Fleming in to help her calm him down. With time, patience, and alternative remedies, Tybalt was good enough to be Malory's show horse. She was one out of the two people in the All School's show to have a clear round with Dylan and Morello. Tybalt went from a nervous wreck to cool, confident, and collected; but still needs an understanding rider like Malory to help him reach his full potential.
