Heart of Gold is about Honey. Before returning from Thanksgiving break, her parents finally tell her that her twin brother's suffering from another bout of cancer -- leukemia. She's horribly upset for her brother, and upset that her parents knew for three weeks but didn't tell her. Back at CH, she doesn't want to tell anyone in fear of getting special treatment. In the mean time, Patience gets a new pony, Moonlight Minuet. Minnie and she and Lynsey strain the Connemara's tendons. Patience neglects to take care of her pony, so Honey takes over b/c she loves Minnie and to distract herself from Sam's cancer. Dylan gets mad and gets in a fight with her, and at her and Malory's AllSchool league show, Lani helps Honey sneak off to see Sam. At the end of the book, Honey realizes she should have told her friends in the beginning.
