Book number two, Making Strides, in the Chestnut Hill series was really good. It is about Malory seeing Tybalt at a stable and convincing Mrs. C. to buy him. She works with him to gain his trust and hopefully to eventually have him good enough to use as her main schooling and event horse. Malory has to fight off mean insults from Lynsey, deal with Patience dating her 'crush' Caleb and getting Tybalt ready for the show against Allbrights. It was clever how there's a Halloween Party and Malory has no money to buy a costume since she spent it all on her warm-up fleece and show jacket. Her friends and roommates whip together a Cleopatra costume using bedsheets, broaches, dark eyeliner, gold and costume jewelry, and other things so that she can go. When she gets there Patience is wearing a Cleopatra costume too and Caleb even thinks that Malory is Patience. That might have been my favorite part of the book. I thought that book two was great especially since I'm in love with the Chestnut Hill series.
